The recent South Delta Secondary grad dinner-dance at the Marriott Pinnacle highlights an issue of concern for families of high school-aged children.

Editor: Re: Reader would like to see Hoover run for mayor in 2014, letter to the editor, July 19 Yes, I strongly agree with the suggestion of Greg Hoover for mayor in 2014. Or councillor, if you must. I second the motion.

Editor: The Southlands proposal provides reasonably sized housing for first-time buyers and downsizing seniors.

The Port Mann toll is literally highway robbery. My sister-in-law visited me last month from Dubai. She drove her daughter across the Port Mann twice a day every Saturday for a month. That's $6 per day.

Some would say I'm just a bad loser, but I say, as many residents of Marina Gardens do, that we fought a good fight, must accept the decision, but we'll never feel the decision was the correct one.

Editor: Despite overwhelming opposition to development on the Southlands, Delta council will be considering the proposal on July 29. The application is a request for 950 residential units in various forms and commercial units as well.

The political gods are a fickle bunch, your best friend one minute only to conspire against you in the next.

If there were ever a local pioneer/politician who has not achieved prominence in Delta based on service and contributions both locally and provincially, it would be John Oliver.
