There's much that separates North Delta from South Delta - and I'm not just referring to that expanse of bog in the middle of our municipality.

Living in Delta likely means we drive by Deas Island often, if not on a daily basis via the George Massey Tunnel. On other occasions we access Deas Island for various recreational purposes.

Editor: Re: Chamber in favour, Dec. 19 I am concerned about the Delta Chamber of Commerce's reported endorsement of the Southlands proposal. Of the chamber's 400 members, 104 responded to the survey, with 65 per cent in favour.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but there's nothing I find more heartwarming at this time of year than being wished Merry Christmas in a mass email.

So this is Christmas. By now, your tree should be decorated, stockings stuffed, presents bought/made/re-gifted and turkey or tofurkey gently defrosting in the kitchen. Tomorrow is the Big Day.

Community still means something despite shadow cast by the big city

The Delta Hospital Foundation announced last week it has received a total of $16,178 in grant funding from four different sources.

Editor: When I submitted a letter to Delta's mayor and council to express support for the Century Group's development plan for Southlands, I expected to go on the record for my views.

I don't think many were surprised when civic politicians voted Monday to allow Century Group's development plans for the Southlands to take the next step.

After the big day is over on Tuesday, I have promised myself that I am going to take two days to do nothing during the remainder of the Christmas holidays. You know, like jammy days of yesteryear. Lie around on the floor and play with my toys.
