Editor: Monday evening's Delta council meeting endorsed the meaning of public involvement in affairs of the community by a good turnout on issues pertaining to the Southlands development.

Editor: I want to extend a huge thank you to the kind soul who turned in the billfold that I unknowingly dropped in Thrifty Foods on Friday, Dec. 14. I have posted a note of thank you in the store, but was concerned you might not see it.

Editor: Re: Short-term fix available before new crossing becomes reality, Community Comment, Dec. 7 Once again Doug Husband is right on the money when he states it's all about dollars and cents.

It's a nice idea, but good luck enforcing it. In the wake of the civic precinct having been overrun by cute and cuddly bunnies, local politicians approved a bylaw last week that makes it a ticketable offence to abandon an animal in Delta.

Editor: Being an avid local sports fan, I followed the South Delta Secondary senior girls volleyball team this season through the Optimist and my son, who attends SDSS.

Every year around Christmas, we hear the call for non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys. Like so many families, we'll contribute a few cans, a couple of boxes of Kraft Dinner and a package of pasta in a box at school or at the store.

Editor: A bottle with a message from Pi didn't turn up on my walk on the beach today. I will continue to search for it. What did turn up were lots of flotsam from the sea. Mostly plastic but also a Birkenstock sandal and part of an automobile bumper.

In an era where politicians tend to be disposable commodities, it's nothing short of amazing that Lois Jackson has served - or should that be survived? - for four decades.
