Editor: As we approach our municipal election we will notice the expenditures by candidates will become more and more evident - signs, advertisements, phone calls, special events, etc.

There's an odd disconnect between government and the way the rest of society operates. For some reason, the common sense we apply to everyday situations seems to be lacking in our government policies.

Sorry future in store for community we love so much

The last municipal election was, to put it bluntly, lame.

Editor: Over the past several months a number of individuals have approached me and encouraged me to run in the coming municipal election. I am sincerely flattered and grateful for the compliments and encouragement.

We'll see whether trustees have learned their lesson.

For someone who has driven the George Massey Tunnel for over 25 years, I sure have noticed a lot more accidents in and around the tunnel recently. In many places you can hardly see the pavement from all the skid marks.

It's worth a try. Delta's motion at the recent Union of B.C. Municipalities convention to get Victoria to stop suing local governments makes abundant sense, but I'm not so sure that's enough to get provincial politicians to bite.
