The investigation is ongoing into a Saturday evening collision in Richmond which resulted in an elderly man being taken to hospital.

Richmond RCMP said Sunday it was keeping an eye on the health of the elderly pedestrian after he was struck by a vehicle at around 8 p.m. near Railway and Granville avenues.

The man is expected to survive, but police said on the weekend it was too early to determine whether charges will be filed against the driver in question.

It’s also not clear at this point what caused the crash or if speed or alcohol are factors.

Residents in the area reported seeing Railway Avenue closed Saturday night between Blundell and Granville Avenue.
