A HandDART driver, who works out of Richmond, has tested positive for COVID-19, TransLink confirmed Friday morning.

TransLink says that its HandyDART contractor, First Transit, was advised by public health officials of the diagnosis.

“The employee has our full support and we wish them a speedy recovery,” said TransLink.

The driver’s workspace and vehicle have been “thoroughly cleaned and disinfected,” said TransLink in a statement.

Public health officials have not given any indication that there is an increased risk to the public at this time, said the transit authority.

TransLink said that, given B.C.’s strict privacy laws, the disclosure of any further details on this case would be a matter for the provincial health officer.

Earlier this week, TransLink confirmed two of its employees had tested positive for the coronavirus.

One is a bus driver who works out of Port Coquitlam Transit Centre, and the other an employee who works out of Coast Mountain Bus Company’s – which operates TransLink’s bus fleet – Burnaby Transit Centre.
