Ladner diver Shemar Dennison concluded his 2018 season by sweeping both the one and three metre springboard events at the Candy Cane Invitational in Langley.

It’s been a year of steady progress in the deep end for Shemar Dennison

The Ladner teen turned his rather quick diving introduction into a spot on the Vancouver Coastal Zone team that competed at the B.C. Winter Games in Kamloops back in February. He more than held his own, finishing seventh in the one metre springboard event and sixth in the three metre competition.

Since then, the Grade 10 student at Vancouver College has been hard at work with the White Rock Divers Club — establishing himself among the best in the Lower Mainland.

Back in June, Dennison won gold on both the one and and three metre events at the White Rock Invitational, held at the club’s training pool — Grandview Aquatic Centre in South Surrey. He then headed to the Irene MacDonald Memorial Invitational at the Vancouver Aquatic Centre where it was another gold medal sweep.

The Optimist carrier concluded his season in Langley earlier this month at the Candy Cane Invitational in Langley where he captured his fifth and sixth gold medals to wrap up a very productive the 2018 campaign.

Dennison’s newfound passion includes twice weekly training sessions with his club, along with dryland training sessions.
