It’s a trip of a lifetime for U12 South Delta United.

After more than a year of fundraising and planning, the boys soccer team is off to London next Wednesday for a week of soccer, sightseeing and taking in England’s rich culture.

Highlights of the stay including training at West Ham and Tottenham Spurs’ academies.

United will also play three matches against different schools and enjoy some post-game socializing with the opponents and parents at a reception.

The boys will be attending a Premier League game between Watford and Leicester City, as well as an English Championship match featuring Charlton Athletics and Queen’s Park Rangers.

The team has the opportunity to tour Craven Cottage Stadium — which, although it has a history dating back to 1780, has been the home to Fulham FC since 1896.

They also will visit Stonehenge a UNESCO world heritage site, and explore Salisbury where they will stop at Salisbury Cathedral. The main body of this cathedral was completed over 38 years between 1220 and 1258.

There will also be free time to explore London.

The team would like to thank the community for their generous support during chocolate and hot dog sales, bottle drives and fundraising nights at Ladner’s The Landing Pub and Grill.

“Without the full support of this wonderful community, this trip would not have been possible,” said team spokesperson Owain McKibbin.

The team also received plenty of corporate support from the following businesses:

White Spot, Proquip On-Site Diesel Refuelling Ltd., Mackie/Sidhu Wealth Management, Soccer Express, Ron Toigo, Equipment Sales and Service, Ground X Site Services, Sumas Environmental, JS Nijjar Trucking Canadian Expedition Productions II LTD, Atlas Pest & Wildlife Control Ltd.; Jerry Brar Mortgages Inc. Coast Capital Savings, Huggy the Healer, Astrographic Industries Ltd., David Wiebe Real Estate, Envision Credit Union, Servicemaster, Tsawwassen; Jackson & Lowe Realtors and Cobs Bread – Ladner.
