The Greater Vancouver Canadians of the new B.C. Major Bantam Hockey League will get their first taste of academy opponents at the Pat Quinn Classic starting on Saturday in Burnaby.

The Pat Quinn Classic in Burnaby will have some intriguing match-ups from a local minor hockey standpoint.

The Greater Vancouver Canadians are enjoying an outstanding campaign in the inaugural season of BC Hockey’s Major Bantam Division. They take a 16-2-0 record into the break after a 7-0 win over the Vancouver North East Chiefs in their final regular season game.

Now they turn their attention to the Pat Quinn Classic and playing in the Bantam AAA Elite Tier where they will take on academy programs for the first time. The Canadians will open play Saturday against the Burnaby Winter Club’s Bantam Prep team that currently had an 8-7-0-3 record in the Canadian School Sport Hockey League.

The Canadians will conclude round-robin play against the Arizona Junior Coyotes 14U AAA team and league rival Cariboo Cougars. The playoffs start on Monday with the tourney concluding on New Year’s Eve.

The Canadians will also see more academy opponents at the John Reid Memorial Bantam Tournament in St. Albert next month.
