South Delta Bantam C1 Stars enjoyed a golden weekend at the 13th annual Burnaby Female Hockey Remembrance Day Tournament.

It was a golden weekend for the Delta Bantam C1 Stars at the 13th annual Burnaby Female Hockey Remembrance Day Tournament.

The Stars entered the playoff round as the No. 3 seed after going 1-1-1 in round-robin play. A win over Meadow Ridge C1 sent them to the championship game against favoured North Shore C1.

Facing an opponent that had not lost a game so far this season, the Stars came through with a thrilling 5-3 come-from behind victory.

Trailing by two goals, Taylor Murrell launched the South Delta comeback, while captain Alexis Kamiya tied the game. North Shore made it 3-2 before Kamiya notched her second of the game. 

Murrell then produced the game winner and Morgan Dionne added an insurance goal late in the third period. Callia McCormack was terrific in net, making some timely stops in the win.

Coached by David Clutterham and Shell Thompson, the girls played amazing all weekend to earn their spot on top of the podium.

The Stars roster also features: forwards- Meghnna Chand, Emily Clutterham (assistant captain), Noriko Ikari, Lauren Karppa, Charlotte Mclean (assistant captain), Kajul Randhawa, Emma Siebold and Elli Thompson (assistant captain). Defencemen - Claire Bannister, Ameeran Grewal, Kylie Kamiya, Amira Samra, Angelina Smit and goalie Alexandra Kay.
