DDRC rowers thrive in friendly waters at Cascadia Regatta

The host Delta Deas Rowing Club produced 21 top three finishes at last weekend's 10th annual Cascadia Masters Regatta.

This past weekend saw the Delta Deas Rowing Club host the 10thannual Cascadia Regatta. 

Cascadia is the largest masters regatta in Canada, attracting over 500 entries from Alberta, British Columbia, Oregon and Washington.

 Deas Island Park enjoyed a festival atmosphere under a hot summer sun, with local athletes achieving 21 top three finishes, including nine gold, six silver and six bronze medals.

Of particular note was the 20-30-year-old A-AA quad race, featuring DDRC’s  Tim McCormick, Remy Roxborough, Eric Fraser and Jeremy Hankin. They rowed the 1000-metre course in a blistering 3:09.77.

In addition to supporting the local rowing community, the regatta also raised $2400 for Vancouver Lake, WA to help treat a milfoil weed problem.
