Delta Gymnastics' excellence continues at BC Winter Games

Delta Gymnastics' large contingent helped Zone 5 (Vancouver Coastal) capture the team even at the BC Winter Games in Fort St. John last weekend.

Delta Gymnastics’ impressive run at the BC Winter Games continued last weekend in Fort St. John.

Since 2014, the club has produced the all-around gold medalist in the girls competition and Gabriela Hoolsema kept the streak going with her performance. She also won gold on bars and silver on vault.

Teammate Sydney Hollas was sixth all-around and captured gold with with an animated performance in the JO7 floor finals that produced an amazing 9.825. The score the highest of the entire competition. Hollas was also fourth on bars and fifth on beam.

Led by Delta Gymnastics coaches Jenn Watts-Turner and Richard Woo, Zone 5 (Vancouver-Coastal) captured gold in the team competition.

Rounding out the medal winners was Brian Delf with a silver and bronze on rings. 

Zone 5 team captain Ava Lappin won bronze on vault. She was also seventh on floor and ninth all-around in JO8.

Aleena Simihag was sixth on bars and 10th overall at her first Games and in her first season of JO7.

Carolina Hoolsema, also competing at the Games as a JO8 wild card entry, placed 15th all around and was sixth on vault.
