Delta Hockey Academy will be well-represented on the BC teams headed to the Canada Winter Games come February in Red Deer.

Three DHA players were named to the final 20-player roster of BC Hockey’s Male U16 team while three more members remain in the running for the Female U18 team.

Goaltender Keegan Maddocks (Langley), defenceman Jack O’Brien (Surrey) and forward Carson Latimer (Surrey) were selected following an extensive tryout process that began with the U16 B.C. Cup last spring in Salmon Arm, followed by a provincial summer camp at Shawnigan Lake. Maddocks and O’Brien are members of DHA’s Elite 15 squad while Latimer suits of the Midget Prep team.

“This is an exciting time for a special group of players,” said BC Hockey Chief Executive Officer Barry Petrachenko. “The opportunity to represent their province in a multi-sport event will be great experience and stands as a tremendous accomplishment for the players, and we want to thank the coaches and staff for all their efforts in bringing our team together and supporting them throughout this journey as members of Team BC.”

The roster also features Greater Vancouver Canadians forward Trevor Wong who played at St. Georges last season and was selected 18th overall in the Bantam Draft by Kelowna.

The rest of the team includes: Goalie — Thomas Milic (Coquitlam); Defencemen — Nolan Bentham (Victoria), Elia Carmichael (Langley), Tyson Galloway (Kamloops) Ty Gibson (Victoria), Graham Sward (Abbotsford); Forwards — Caedan Bankier (Surrey), Jake Chiasson (Yale), Cage Newans (Qualicum Beach), Michael Abgrall (Richmond), Steel Quiring (Vernon), Matthew Seminoff (Coquitlam), Logan Stankoven (Kamloops), Seiya Tanaka-Campbell (Mill Bay), Kobe Verbicy (Bowser) and Finlay Williams (North Van).

The team is coached by Steve O’Rourke.

Meanwhile, DHA Female Prep forwards Katie Chan (Richmond), Aimee Brucker (Courtenay) and Jessica Soon (Richmond) are among 26 shortlisted for the B.C. Female U18 Team. That roster will be finalized later this month. Chan helped B.C. win bronze at the U18 Nationals a year ago when she was just 14.
