Seattle ties best-of-seven opening round series with 4-1 win at LEC on Saturday night

Vancouver Giants and Seattle Thunderbirds will head down I-5 all even in their best-of-seven opening round Western Hockey League playoff series.

The Thunderbirds seized home ice advantage with a 4-1 game two win on Saturday night before 3,726 fans at the Langley Events Centre.

Seattle struck twice in the first period and twice in the third and got 39 saves from Roddy Ross. Nolan Volcan led all Seattle skaters with a goal and two assists. Jadon Joseph had the Giants lone goal which came late in the first period on a power play.

The result came 24 hours after a dominating 7-1 Giants win in the series opener at the LEC.

Dylan Plouffe paced the Giants with two goals and an assist while four others recorded multi-point games. 

Six Giants altogether combined for the seven goals on 40 shots while Trent Miner was superb making 27 saves in net. 

Andrej Kukuca had Seattle’s lone tally at 19:57 of the second period. The tandem of Roddy Ross and Cole Schwebius combined for 33 saves in the Seattle goal.

The teams now head to Accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, WA for games two and three on Tuesday and Wednesday. Game five is slated for Friday back in Langley at 7:30 p.m.
