Delta Islanders are among the top teams in the B.C. Junior "B" Tier One Lacrosse League.

It took the top team in the BC. Junior B Tier One Lacrosse League to finally cool off the Delta Islanders on Friday night.

The Islanders (10-5-0) saw their seven-game win streak snapped in a competitive 12-9 loss to Coquitlam.

The Adanacs took a 9-7 lead into the final 20 minutes and earned some breathing room with three unanswered goals before Jackson Tutkaluke and Dylan Nishiyama rounded out the scoring for Delta.

Ben McDonald paced Delta with five points, including a pair of goals. The first-year junior leads the league in scoring with 74 points, followed by teammate Rhys Porteous with 64. He also scored twice and added a pair of assists.

McDonald is setting the pace in goals too with 49 — 15 more than his nearest rival.

Brendan Szabo, Jared Moloci and Brayden Zunti had the other Islander tallies.

Ashton Leclair made 43 saves with the Adanacs enjoying a 55-43 advantage in the shot department.

The Islanders were coming off a 21-8 road drubbing of the Langley Thunder. Keegan Kozack and McDonald each had seven points with four goals. Devyn Zunti and Szabo added hat tricks. Cody Hoegg and Porteous scored twice. Singles went to Brayden Kirk, Max Yingling and Lucas Hooymans.

Boxla Bits…

Isaac Richmond, Kirk, Szabo and Moloci have all been added to the roster from the Junior “A” Islanders prior to the July 1 roster deadline to extend their seasons into the Junior “B” playoffs.

The Junior “A” Islanders (3-13-0) enjoyed competitive outings against league-leading Coquitlam (9-6) and second place Victoria (13-8) this past week.

The club has a couple of attractive trade assets to contending teams in leading scorer Hayden Dickson and goaltender Brody Harris. Both could be moved this week with five teams in the hunt for two berths to the Minto Cup national championships.

Dickson is third in the league in goals with 38. Harris is coming off a couple of superb outings where he made 47 saves against Coquitlam and 48 more in Victoria.
