It was a silver medal for Megan and Nicole McNamara at the 2018 NORCECA Beach Volleyball Circuit stop in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on the weekend.

The Tsawwassen twins reached the final on Sunday before falling to the American team of Falyn Fonoimoana and Molly Turner 2-0 (24-22, 21-15). The match was played under more amiable weather after action was halted on Saturday due to rain and strong wins.

Earlier, the UCLA standouts defeated Cuba’s Yanisleidis Sanchez and Arlin Hechavarria in the semi-finals 2-0 (21-15, 21-18) after getting past Nicaragua’s Swan Mendoza and Socorro Lopez 2-0 (21-9, 21-8) in the quarters. The competition featured 21 teams.

Last spring, the McNamaras wrapped up their junior season at UCLA by helping the Bruins win their first-ever national title, earning First Team All-American and Pac 12 honours in the process.
