Delta Pacers swim team wrapped up another successful season at the B.C. Secondary Schools Provincial Championships last weekend at Watermania in Richmond.

Six of the 10 DSS relay teams that qualified for the meet advanced to the finals. The top result was the girls’ 400 metre freestyle team of Kylie Davis, Ava Matsumoto, Ella-Rose Thomas, and Samantha Cates.

The top result for the boys was a 12thplace finish, also in the 400 metre freestyle relay, by the team of Isaac Sato-Klemm, Jonah Sato-Klemm, Colton Howard, and Jordan Cates.

At the earlier Regional Championships, also at Watermania, a significant windstorm cut the meet short due to a power outage. The swimmers returned a week later to complete the races.

Ironically, it was the second straight year the Regionals had been delayed after a traffic accident caused a power outage at the Surrey Sport and Leisure Centre. That meet was concluded the next day.

The students and parents wish to thank teacher-sponsor Jan Rogers who is stepping down after seven years of leadership.
