The Ladner Pioneers took a 1-0 series lead in the provincial senior B lacrosse final with a 9-8 win over the Nanaimo Timbermen Thursday night at Sungod Arena in North Delta.
The defending champs from Nanaimo looked solid early opening up a 5-3 lead after the opening frame, but Ladner regrouped in the second period outscoring the Timbermen 5-2 to take an 8-7 lead – a lead they would hold onto the rest of the way.
Spencer Bromley paced the offensive attack with two goals and four assists, while Ryan Keith scored three times and added one helper. Connor Davidson, Luke Wiles, Tyler Kirky and Riley Phillips all scored singles with Kirkby and Phillips each chipping in with a pair of assists.
