As a member of Team BC, Ladner's Kurtis Reid won three silver medals at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Nova Scotia.

Kurtis Reid has returned from the Special Olympics Canada 2018 Summer Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia as a multi-medal winner.

The Ladner athlete captured silver medals in the standing long jump, 100 metre sprint and shot put events. The Games featured over 1,000 participants, along with coaches and mission staff representing all 12 provinces and territories.

Reid secured his spot on Team B.C. with an outstanding performance at the Special Olympics B.C. Summer Games last year in Kamloops.

As a young adult with Down Syndrome, he is impressively juggling three jobs — working at Thrifty Foods, the Reach Child Development Society as a PlayGroup Assistant Society and as a carrier with the Optimist.

Despite his busy schedule, Reid also finds the time to volunteer for Delta Parks and Recreation, as well as Sacred Heart Church.

His participation in Delta Special Olympics goes beyond track and field, as a valuable member of the swimming, soccer, baseball and floor hockey teams.
