The Seaquam Seahawks and North Delta Huskies were multiple winners on Delta Basketball League’s Super Saturday at South Delta Secondary.
The Seahawks capped the day of championship games by taking the Junior Girls and Junior Boys titles with wins over South Delta Sun Devils and Delta Pacers respectively.
The Huskies continued their dominance in Grade 8 Boys — capturing their seventh title in eight years with a victory against the Delview Raiders. They also took Grade 9 Boys honours by defeating the Seaquam Seahawks.
The day started with the Burnsview Griffins’ hard-fought 64-56 win over the host Sun Devils in the Grade 8 Girls final.
Most of these teams and then some have no time to rest with the inaugural South Fraser Championships starting today and featuring schools from Delta, Richmond and Surrey battling for provincials berths.
Tournament sites for Thursday’s finals include: Grade 8 Boys (Steveston-London), Grade 8 Girls (McRoberts), Junior Boys (Guildford Park) and Junior Girls (Tamanawis).
Seaquam and South Delta host the Grade 9 tourneys next week.
