Tsawwassen’s Mina Stefanovic was all smiles after her gold medal run in the 10-year-old girls race at the B.C. Athletics' Provincial Cross-Country Championships.

Tsawwassen’s Mina Stefanovic is the 10-year-old cross-country provincial champion.

The Southpointe Academy student captured last weekend’s B.C. Athletics event in Saanich with a comfortable 13-second victory over her nearest rival — completing the 2-kilometre course in eight minutes and 10 seconds.

A familiar name was also on top of the podium in the U18 girls race as former South Delta Secondary student Madelyn Bonikowsky ran the 4-kilometre course in 14 minutes and 15 seconds.

Her family moved from Tsawwassen to Nelson this summer. She is now a member of the Kootenay Kaos Track and Field Club along with her twin brother Jacob.
