Canada's national junior ringette team will take on the BC Thunder on Sunday 10 a.m. at the Richmond Ice Centre's Forum Rink.

With Burnaby just days away from hosting the World Ringette Championships, Canada’s national junior team will play one of its final tune-up games on Sunday at the Richmond Ice Centre.

Team Canada will take on the B.C. Thunder at 10 a.m. in the RIC’s Forum Rink. There will be snacks and drinks for sale followed by an autograph session with both teams.

Canada will then turn its attention to a best-of-three series against Finland, starting Nov. 28 at Bill Copeland Arena. The junior division games are part of the World Championships that also includes senior national teams battling from Canada, Finland, USA, Sweden and Czech Republic in two separate tiers.

As for the Thunder, they are off to a 4-5-0 start in the National Ringette League under second-year head coach Troy Takasaki. He is part of a significant Richmond flavour to the Thunder program that includes his daughter Hailey as a key forward.

Their roster also features goaltender and Surrey native Kiana Heska who is a member of the junior national team.

The Thunder will next see regular season action with a three-game series against the Manitoba Intact that will conclude Dec. 15 at Minoru Arenas.
