Tsawwassen blueliner commits to NCAA school

Former Ice Hawk standout Aiden Hansen-Bukuta headed to RIT for 2020-21 season

Aiden Hansen-Bukuta has parlayed a couple of standout seasons of junior hockey into a scholarship at the NCAA Division One level.

The 19-year-old from Tsawwassen has verbally committed to Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2020-21 season. Hansen Bukuta has thrived with the Nanaimo Clippers, ranking second in the B.C. Hockey League among rookie defenceman with 29 points in 44 games.

The Delta Hockey Academy product was outstanding a year ago in helping his hometown Delta Ice Hawks capture the Pacific Junior Hockey League regular season and playoff championships. That paved the way to join former Ice Hawks GM and head coach Darren Naylor who is now in charge of the Clippers.

Hansen-Bukuta logged loads of ice time during the Hawks’ memorable campaign, on the club’s top defensive pairing with fellow rookie defenceman Gabriel LeBlanc.
