There is at least one local hockey standout who will see game action this weekend.

Tsawwassen blueliner Aiden Hansen-Bukata is poised to make his NCAA Division One debut Friday when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Tigers take on Clarkson.

The 21-year-old earned a lucrative scholarship after a couple of impressive seasons in the B.C Hockey League with the Nanaimo Clippers that included being named a Second Team All-Star in 2018-19. The Delta Hockey Academy product also was a big part of the Delta Ice Hawks run to the Pacific Junior Hockey League championship a year earlier.

The Tigers’ roster is loaded with Canadian junior “A” graduates including BCHL alumni Spencer Berry (Langley), Will Calverley (Chilliwack), Kolby Matthews (Coquitlam) and Daniel Chenard (Wenatchee).

The game with Clarkson was a late addition to the schedule after a weekend series with Niagara was postponed due to COVID-19 safety protocol. RIT is coming off a 19-13-4 season.
