The Delta Hockey Academy is Canadian School Sport Hockey League Female Varsity champions for the second time in three years.

The Wild capped a memorable run in Penticton with a 3-1 win over regular season champion Pilot Mound Hockey Academy on Monday.

Camryn Hockley, Devan Andrusak and Melisa Ardanaz each found the back of the net for Delta, which held leads of 2-1 after 20 minutes and 3-1 going into the third period. Janaka Shahi made 25 saves.

The result avenged an earlier 3-1 defeat in round-robin action to the Manitoba opponent. PBA went 22-1-2 in league play while Delta was second with a 15-8-2 record.

Delta had squeezed past Idaho’s Coeur d'Alene Hockey Academy in a shootout to conclude preliminary play on Sunday.

Shahi stopped 25 of 26 shots in regulation then turned aside all three CDA shootout attempts while Emma Lee notched the winner for the Wild.

Earlier Delta goals were scored on the power play by Logan Hamilton, Allison Jakeway and Lee.

The girls opened the championship with a 4-1 win over the Okanagan Hockey Academy.

The Wild roster also features Sienna Basi, Melody Pilchak, Jesse Kask, Makenna Bergen, Tristan Craig, Emma Killman, Kirra Montrose, Regan Elmer, Lainey Joyce, Jaylyn Morris, Lauren MaKay, Camryn Hockley, Sarah Hartle and Shea Elmer.

The team was coached by Owen Pighin and assistants Jennifer Gilligan and Brittany Kirby.
