Delta Hospital needs your help in raising funds for life-saving equipment

Unprecedented times call for an unprecedented solution—and that is just what the Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation has done with one of its biggest fundraising events.

COVID-19 has changed how we live in many ways. Due to provincial restrictions on large gatherings, the foundation made the decision to take its 22-year-old golf tournament and make it “golf-less”.

The goal of the Century Group Delta Health Golfless Classic, which takes place online from Sept. 10 to 17, is to raise funds for an echo ultrasound.

“We could have made the tough decision to cancel the fundraiser altogether, but as the need for an echo ultrasound is a major priority that makes the need for our second-largest fundraiser of the year, even more important,” says Lisa Hoglund, the foundation’s executive director.

“We are so grateful to Century Group for their generous decision to remain as our title sponsor and fully supporting this new format, we couldn’t do it without them.

“We have received an outpouring of support from our community during these last few months and we are thankful to the many longstanding and new sponsors who have come on board to support this important fundraiser for Delta Hospital.”

This year’s Century Group Delta Health Golfless Classic begins at 8 a.m. on Sept. 10 and runs until 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. It will include unique auction items and experiences, including a 50/50 raffle, a first-bidder contest, as well as a live stream event hosted by Jake Edwards (a.k.a. Bro Jake) and Delta South MLA Ian Paton at 7 p.m. as a fitting conclusion to the event.

The first bidder of each auction item will be entered into a draw for a $200 Browns Socialhouse Tsawwassen gift certificate.

Through the support and generosity of the community, the finaldollars will be raised to purchase the $300K echo ultrasound. This brand new equipment is one of the most important diagnostic tools to be added to Delta Hospital in the past 10 years and will transform the way cardiac patients are treated here in Delta.
