A rock-throwing vandal has smashed windows of 11 cars parked in the Ambleside-Dundarave area over the past six weeks, according to West Vancouver police.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian female, approximately 40 years of age, about five-foot-six, slim build with curly brown or greying hair in a ponytail,” according to Const. Jeff Palmer, West Vancouver Police Department spokesman.

While the suspect doesn’t appear to be a “direct threat to other people,” police remain concerned, Palmer said.

“There’s always potential for injury when you’re getting car windows broken,” he said.

Most of the windows have been broken with a rock, he said.

Police are unsure if they should be looking for one suspect or several.

The vandal has shattered windows during daytime hours as well as overnight, according to Palmer.

North Vancouver RCMP investigated a similar case in October when a vandal punctured the windows of more than a dozen cars parked on the 100 block of East First Street just before dawn.
