Ladner’s Ryan Morris has a new novel out and will make an appearance at Black Bond Books Sunday.

Ryan Morris will be at Black Bond Books in Ladner this Sunday to promote his new novel, This Never Happened. The effort marks the third book he's written and first to be published.

"It's about a young man who's really just trying to find his place in the world," says Morris, 41.

The Ladner resident adds the novel is dark but funny in parts and takes a bit of a science fiction twist as well.

He describes the book as a little hard to pin down in terms of a specific genre.

"It's a bit of a slow burn," explains Morris.

Morris says he's always been into the arts and worked in animation for a decade before going back to school. He now works as a library technician at an independent school in Vancouver.

He says started writing screenplays for TV and film but never really did much with them.

"That eventually evolved into writing novels," he explains.

Morris will be at Black Bond Books from 1 to 3 p.m.

He says he's hoping to have copies of the book at the event. This Never Happened is also available as an e-book through Amazon.
