During the first week of May, all youth get celebrated in British Columbia.

Fun activities, art, contests, and prizes are in store as the George Mackie Library offers some great programs.

Let’s Play on Friday, May 3, from 2 to 3 p.m.: Decorate your idol cards; take photos in the selfie booth; and try your hand with a Rubik’s Cube. There will be contests and prizes. Enter the draw to win a one-on-one session in the library’s green screen room.

Teens! Make Art! Explore Salt Watercolour Painting on Saturday, May 4, from 2 to 3 p.m.: Illustrate a simple scene of your choice, using our watercolour paints, add salt, let the painting dry, and see the beautiful result. Meet other creative teens, connect, and share. All teens welcome, ages 13 and up. Supplies will be provided.

Are you a teen who is into anime and manga? Are you obsessed with One Piece, Demon Slayer and others? Join us on Monday, May 6, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for an Anime and Manga Trivia Night. This will be an unprecedented opportunity to win big by testing your Anime-themed knowledge! Winners for best Cosplay and Fan Art, as well! Compete individually or as a team. Registration required. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18, Ladner Pioneer Library has something planned for almost every day of Youth Week.

Join us on Thursday, May 2, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. for Friendship Bracelet Making. Embroidery thread and bead supplies will be provided.

Check out the Teen Paint Afternoon on Friday, May 3, from 3 to 4 p.m. Acrylic and watercolour painting supplies will be provided to participants. All experience levels welcome. There are many ways of telling a story and artist books take a unique approach to the pages between the cover. Enjoy an afternoon of Alternative Book Making on Sunday, May 5, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Participants will be making their own Accordion Books and Tunnel Books. We will talk about different materials, methods, resources, and makers! Learn and share techniques of paper artistry, inspired by Creativebug artists/videos and beyond! Book making supplies will be provided. All experience levels welcome. Registration required.

Drop by on Monday, May 6, between 3 and 4:30 p.m. for Teen Game Afternoon. From new games to old favourites, there are a variety of tabletop games to choose from! Snacks and refreshments provided.

Are you interested in creating your own zine? The library offers a drop-in Zine Making Workshop on Tuesday, May 7, from 3 to 4 p.m. Explore your interests and imaginations as we make and fold our own zines. Paper, drawing, and crafting supplies provided.

It’s a known fact that breaks from studying will increase your productivity in the long run. The Tsawwassen Library has your back with snacks, fidget toys and quick crafts.

On Wednesday, May 1, between 3:30 and 6:30 p.m., the Tsawwassen Library’s meeting room becomes a Teen Study Lounge. Drop by to study and do homework. Snacks and fidget toys will be provided. Ages 13 to 18. Later in the week, supplies will be provided so you can break up your study session and create some crafts during Teen Craft and Study, on Tuesday, May 7, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Yes, there will be snacks here too! Throughout Youth Week, relax and unwind by spending some time colouring a huge colouring sheet on one of our tables.
