The largest and longest running blanket drive in the Lower Mainland is about to get underway.

The 23rd annual Realtors Care Blanket Drive, which runs from Nov. 14 to 21, will see volunteers collect warm clothing and blankets across the region. The donations are then distributed to partner charities from the same community where the item was donated.

The public can make donations at more than 100 participating real estate offices across the Lower Mainland, including five in South Delta.

“Each year, the Blanket Drive helps more than 20,000 residents keep warm during the winter months,” said Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver president Jill Oudil.

“The need is real and we’re asking for the public’s support to help our partner charities meet this need again this year.”

Items needed include:

• Blankets or sleeping bags, gently used or new

• Warm clothing, coats

• Hats, gloves, scarves

• New socks and underwear.

Donations can be dropped off in Ladner at Sutton Group-Seafair Realty (100-5000 Bridge St.) and Re/Max Progroup Realty (5090-48th Ave.). In Tsawwassen, Re/Max Progroup Realty (5360-12th Ave.), Royal LePage Regency Realty (1333-56th St.) and Sutton Group-Seafair Realty (1625-56th St.) are accepting donations.
