Fire damages Ladner home

Investigators trying to determine what started blaze

Investigators are trying to determine what started a serious house fire in Ladner Sunday night.

Deputy fire chief Ken Sim said firefighters were called to the house in the 5100-block of 45th Avenue at about 10: 30 Sunday night.

While it's not suspicious, Sim said, the fire was "very serious" and investigators were still on scene Monday afternoon trying to determine the cause.

He said the older home had cedar siding and decking, which went up quickly, and while firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control quickly the fire got into the attic and other "voids" in the home making it difficult to fully extinguish.

All the occupants of the house made it out safely and no one was injured.
