Five players from the South Delta Secondary Sun Devils football program have been chosen to represent the province on the prestigious Team BC Football teams.

This summer, Kyler Purbs, James Wheeler, Leighton Marquardt, Rylan Chima, and Will Jollymore will compete against top-tier Canadian and American teams in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and the United States.

Hundreds of hopefuls from across the province showcased their skills at tryouts at the final selection camp in Langley.

Marquardt will play on the U18 team.

As a centre and long snapper, he follows the path blazed by his older brother Ryan.

Purbs will be a force to be reckoned with as a defensive end on the U17 team. He was a key player on the provincial runner-up Junior Varsity team last season.

Wheeler’s appointment to the U17 team as a defensive tackle is a testament to his six years of unwavering commitment to the South Delta Rams Football Club. His experience on both the defensive and offensive line for the SDSS Junior Varsity program has prepared him well for the challenges that lie ahead with Team BC.

Chima’s selection to the U17 Team adds another layer of excitement. As a receiver, his journey from Ladner to the elite program at SDSS exemplifies his dedication to the sport.

Jollymore rounds out this group of elite athletes representing the U17 Team as a running back. His performance as a running back and linebacker for the junior varsity team speaks volumes about his abilities on the field.
