Get ready for “Pink Zebra sightings” at a basketball court near you.

Local BC Basketball referees Mike Craig from Tsawwassen and Karn Dhillon from Ladner have spearheaded the Pink Whistle - Call A Foul on Cancer campaign since 2009.

The officials are showing their colours for the 15th annual campaign, which runs from Jan. 29 to Feb. 23.

The referees will continue to wear pink whistles and pink lanyards plus black and pink stripes during games in that four-week period.

Four Winds Brewing has chipped in with the launch of a special beer called “Pink Whistle”, which will be launched in the weeks ahead.

Proceeds from beer sales will be donated to the campaign as Four Winds invites customers to come “wet their whistle.”

Four Winds staff will be wearing pink whistles and pink lanyards for the month as well.

These “zebras” have raised more than $215,000 in their first 14 years.

The goal, as always, is to raise awareness of cancer and funds for the BC Cancer Foundation.

The goal this year is to surpass the quarter million-dollar mark ($250,000).

There are several ways to donate:

*Cash and coins through the donation buckets at games

*Cash donations via E-Transfers to [email protected]

*Credit card/debit card donations via the BC Cancer Foundation donation site at: http://tinyurl.com/5yanam8u.
