In a continued effort to foster inclusivity and expand the love of flag football to more girls, the South Delta Rams Football Club is hosting its second annual Girls Flag Football Camp. This opportunity invites all females (or anyone who identifies as female) between the ages of five to 18, regardless of experience, to join the fun this Sunday, March 3, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Dennison Park in Tsawwassen.

Joined by guest coach Katie Miyazaki of Football Canada, alongside experienced SD Rams coaches and women within the organization, the camp aims to kick off the football journey for more young girls. No prior experience is necessary; the focus is on creating a welcoming environment for everyone to enjoy the excitement of the game.

While they couldn’t form an all-girls team in spring 2023, there was a notable increase in the number of registered girls playing on co-ed teams, showcasing a growing interest in the sport. So far, there’s been an increase in interest in the U14 and U16 divisions for the 2024 season, and the possibility of establishing exclusive all-girls teams looks promising.
