Another cannabis firm is seeking to set up shop in Delta.

Vodis Pharmaceuticals is seeking municipal approvals to growing medical pot.

The operation would not be on farm property but at an industrial location.

The company also has a facility in Bellingham, WA. Vodis describes itself as being “somewhere between a premium micro-brewery and a cutting edge pharmaceutical company.”

Vodis intends to serve both the medical and future recreational markets.

Delta already has a medical marijuana operation, Zenabis West, that’s set up shop at an industrial property on Annacis Island. Health Canada granted that company, operated by International Herbs Medical Marijuana Ltd., a licence to produce medical cannabis under Health Canada’s Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations.

Meanwhile, two huge East Ladner greenhouse operations, Pure Sunfarms and BC Tweed, are in the process of converting their operations to medical pot with the intention of also supplying the recreational market when cannabis is legalized later this year.

Statistics Canada recently announced it will begin keeping track of the impacts of marijuana, including economic and social implications of the current illegal market as well as the future legal market.
