Two local families have been displaced after a house fire in Ladner early Tuesday morning.

Delta fire deputy chief Ken Sim said the call came in at about 6 a.m. for a fire at a residence in the 4200-block of Arthur Drive. When crews arrived on scene, he said, a backyard shed was on fire, as well as the back of the home. Sim said the flames had spread into the eaves and the attic, but firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze. He said the exterior of the home suffered extensive damage, while the interior was largely saved.

“It was a great save,” he said.

The residence was home to two families, he said, adding that everyone made it out safely and there were no injuries reported.

The two families are being looked after by emergency social services and have already found temporary living arrangements.

Investigators are currently on scene looking into the cause of the fire.
