Seating is missing to appreciate the great vistas Ladner offers

Editor: I'm frequently struck by how beautiful Ladner is: from Harbour Park to Brunswick Point, there are many great places to take in our natural surroundings. Something is missing, however, from several of Ladner's most scenic spaces.

My wife and I frequently walk to the wharf by Sharkey's Seafood Bar and Grille to take in the view, but we've often wished there was seating so we could sit and relax a bit. We were excited to find picnic tables once, but the next day they were gone. (Was this a cruel joke or just a delayed removal after the Grand Prix of Art?) Wouldn't it be great to see benches at the scenic spots in Harbour Park? (I mean overlooking the river, not on the viewing platform that looks directly into the trees or looking at the playground like the existing tables.) A gazebo would protect nature-lovers from blazing sun at Brunswick Point.

At the least, couldn't we bring back those picnic tables near Sharkey's?
