With two days in the books, the Southlands public hearing is still going strong.

Day two of the hearing saw a smaller crowd at the afternoon session, but the numbers grew as the evening progressed.

Supporters of the proposal that would see the contentious piece of property developed praised owner Sean Hodgins and Century group. Many opponents praised the development, which calls for 950 housing units while transferring 80 per cent of the land to Delta, primarily for farming, but said the Southlands is the wrong lcoation for it.

During the afternoon session, more of the speakers spoke out against the proposed development, however, it was more of an even split during the evening portion of the hearing. Overall, after two days of speakers, it appears that the opponents have a slight majority.

The hearing continues today at the South Delta Recreation Centre in Tsawwassen with sessions running from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and then 6:45 p.m. until 9:30 p.m.
