There will be no ferry service between Brentwood Bay and Mill Bay on April 2 as B.C. Ferries has not been able to secure the required number of crew for the Klitsa.

The vessel normally makes nine return trips between the two terminals at this time of year starting with the 7:30 a.m. sailing from Brentwood Bay, and wrapping with the 6:30 p.m. sailing from Mill Bay.

“We require a specific number of crew members on board the vessel to ensure the safety of our passengers in the unlikely event of an emergency and to comply with Transport Canada regulations,” B.C. Ferries said in a statement. “The decision to cancel a sailing in these circumstances is made when we have exhausted all options to find replacement crew.”

The corporation did hold out hope that circumstances could change; if replacement crew is found in time customers will be notified.
