The sweetest week of the year has arrived at the BC SPCA.

Treat Week™ runs from Feb. 24 to March 1, a time when animal lovers across the province fundraise and then give away treats as a thank-you to their donors.

This year, corporate teams are treated to an additional incentive: teams that raise more than $500 will be entered to win their very own puppy party. The BC SPCA will bring a posse of pups to the winning office for a couple of hours of tail wagging and cuddles.

“The response to the puppy party has been incredibly positive,” said the BC SPCA’s Tess Repenning. “Not only are employees eager to sign up and start fundraising, employers are excited by the prospect of treating their staff to some puppy mayhem.”

In addition to the party, fundraisers who raise or self-donate over $25 will be gifted a special Treat Week™ digital cookbook this year, featuring delicious goodies, both sweet and savoury, from local chefs, bloggers, and foodies.

The book includes Lemon Drop Cookies from Gabi & Jules bakery in Port Moody; Oreo Cheesecake Cookie Cups from blogger Olivia Bogacki; Apple Pie from The Pie Hole’s Jenell Parsons; The Islay Blossom cocktail from Juniper kitchen & bar; and Roasted Saffron Hazelnut Cauliflower from the Westin Bayshore’s Brody Palin.

“We love Treat Week™ because it’s a feel-good event and it’s easy to get involved,” added Repenning. “Those who want to fundraise find joy in the cooking and baking, and those who want to donate get a very sweet thank you. And through all of these efforts, the animals of BC get the most important gift of all. The chance at a better life.”

The BC SPCA will use the much-needed funds raised from Treat Week™ to find homes for abandoned, neglected or abused animals, and provide emergency care to injured animals across the province.
