Deltassist is striving to maintain its core programs and services, even if in a modified way, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The social services agency has also created new services to help members of the Delta community during these trying times. Here are details on services available:
Generalized Counselling during COVID-19
Deltassist’s counselling team is now offering up to six free phone or online counselling sessions for individuals, families and/or couples who live in Delta. If you wish to access this service, call 604-594-3455 ext. 136.
Stopping the Violence Program
Deltassist’s team is available to answer questions, provide resources and support by calling 604-594-3455 ext. 116 or 157.
Substance Use Program
The team is available to provide information and support you or a loved one by calling 604-594-3455 ext. 108.
Child and Youth Suicide Prevention Program
If you or someone you know is struggling, call 604-594-3455 ext. 123 or 146.
Seniors Shop and Drop Program
In addition to the regular Seniors Phone Shopping program, Deltassist is also shopping for seniors that cannot get out to shop due to self-isolating. To access this service, call 604-946-9526.
North Delta Food Bank
This temporary food bank is for North Delta residents only; the food bank in South Delta remains in operation.
How to access the North Delta Food bank:
- Call 604-594-3455 and leave your name and phone number with reception.
- Be available for an intake call to register you with the food bank from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
- Be prepared to provide proof as requested.
- Be available to come at your assigned pick up time for assistance
Checking up on isolated Seniors calls
Many seniors are not getting many of their regular services due to the COVID-19 crisis. To keep in touch and make sure they are doing OK, Deltassist has staff and volunteers calling them twice a week for a chat and to check in.
Seniors Phone Shopping
Weekly phone shopping programs are running as usual in North Delta on Tuesday and in Tsawwassen on Wednesdays. Volunteers are in the stores every week making sure seniors are getting the groceries they need.
Light Housekeeping & Yard Maintenance
Light housekeeping and yard maintenance programs are here to help seniors maintain their independence.
