Ladner’s Dani-Rose Coates has her hands full as part of Align Entertainment’s upcoming production of Legally Blonde.

She plays a sorority girl as well as a court stenographer in the musical as well as being an understudy for a handful of other roles.

Coates, 23, says she’s up for the challenge of learning multiple sets of harmonies, dance moves, and lines, one that’s required a lot of organizational skills.

“It’s been really good for me to push myself to be more organized,” Coates says with a laugh.

She is a graduate of Capilano University’s musical theatre program and has been in productions like Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Under The Same Sky.

In addition to working full-time Coates, a Delta Secondary grad, is also the lead singer in a band, Shikane. The group, which has been together for about a year and a half, plays rock and blues covers and is currently working on new, original material, she explains.

“It’s been an incredible experience,” she says, noting the band is scheduled to play at the Landing on St. Patrick’s Day.

Legally Blonderuns from Feb. 2 to 17 at the Michael J. Fox Theatre, 7373 Macpherson Ave., Burnaby. Tickets are $27 to $39. Visit alignentertainment.ca/tickets or call 778-888-8444.
