These South Delta Christmas concerts will put you in the holiday mood

Music plays a huge part in the holiday season and there are lots of opportunities to enjoy great Christmas music in Delta over the next few weeks. A number of local and Lower Mainland choirs are performing throughout the month.

Music plays a huge part in the holiday season and there are lots of opportunities to enjoy great Christmas music in Delta over the next few weeks.

A number of local and Lower Mainland choirs are performing throughout the month. Here’s a list of upcoming concerts:

Trinity Community Choir presents A Midwinter Noel, part of the popular Sunday @3 concert series, on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Ladner United Church (4960-48th Ave.). Tickets are $10 at the door.

A Wine & Cheese event featuring the Delta Music Makers will be held at McKee Seniors Recreation Centre in Ladner on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 2 to 4 p.m. Members: $8, guests: $10.

The Ladner Legion presents a Christmas Hit Parade show on Sunday, Dec. 8.Dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. with the show at 7 p.m. The show will feature tribute artists to legends of the 1950s and ’60s singing seasonal favourites.Performers include: Brenda Lee/Colleen Dee, Patsy Cline/Ms. Janice, Roy Orbison/Gord Rebel, Connie Francis/Gail Hawks, Elvis/Aaron Wong and Buddy Holly/Johnny Hicks.Tickets are $30 for members or $35 for non-members.

A Christmas concert with the ElderCollege Singers is set for KinVillage Community Centre in Tsawwassen on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 1:30 p.m. The choir is directed by Pat Rogers and features pianist Rod Asher. Admission is free. Coffee and Timbits will be available for purchase for $3.

Join the Delta Concert Band, Delta Music Makers and local vocalists for a Christmas concert on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Ladner Community Centre. Admission is a donation to the food bank. This is an all-ages event.

The Tsawwassen Library hosts a Christmas Sing-a-long and tea on Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.Join in for a fun Christmas sing-along followed by tea and cake. The festive singing will be accompanied by members from the Tsawwassen Library Ukulele Group.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra presents its Traditional Christmas concert with singing, storytelling and plenty of holiday cheer on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at South Delta Baptist Church.Join host Christopher Gaze and a multitude of special guests for this festive favourite.Visit: https://www.vancouversymphony.ca/ for tickets.

The Delta Music Makers will be performing at Tsawwassen Mills for the first time on Sunday, Dec.15 at 2 p.m. Set up on the stage at the Boston Pizza end of the mall, the band will perform its final concert of the season.

Buddy’s Holly Jolly Christmas will be at Ladner’s Genesis Theatre on Tuesday, Dec.17 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature Zachary Stevenson from the Buddy Holly Story as well as Ben Klein as Elvis and Cassandra Frie as Brenda Lee. The Trinity Community Choir presents a traditional Christmas concert on Friday, Dec.20 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Point Roberts (1880 APA Road) from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is by donation.

The Trinity Community Choir presents a traditional Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec.22 at St. David’s Anglican Church, (1115-51A St., Tsawwassen) from 3 to 4:40 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
