Tromans was the first prize winner of the 2019 Steinway Junior Piano Competitionin May. Among other prizes, he gets the chance to perform at the world famous Steinway Hall in New York July 7 and 8.

“I’m very excited to take the stage,” said the 14-year-old. “I’ll also take part in some master classes as well.”

Mom Jullie said she is thrilled by her son’s continued development.

“I’m very proud. He has been working very hard and every year he develops a lot,” she said. “It’s very exciting when he wins a competition like this one in New York. It’s gratifying to see that his hard work is paying off.”

Tromans comes from a long line of artists in his family, both musically and artistically.

“He has always loved music, even when he was a baby,” she said. “He wanted to learn piano when he was three-years-old. Once he started he just developed so much. Now he practices as much as he can and we’re all excited about what more he can do.”

Before heading to New York, he performed at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver as one of the past winners of the VSO School of Music’s Future of Excellence Competition featured in this year's VSO School of Music Showcase.

Earlier this year he performed with theRichmond Orchestra in the 10th annual Rising Stars concert. He was one of the winners of the Richmond Music Festival Concerto Challenge last November.

Last year as a 13-year-old he participated in the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival in two categories, Concert Group - ARCT and Beethoven - ARCT, receiving first place with first class honours with distinction in both.

He was also chosen to be the senior piano representative of the Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival at the 2018 Performing Arts B.C. Festival in Victoria.

He performed Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in 2017.

Tromans won the junior division of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra School of Music's Future of Excellence Competition in 2016.
