The event will feature stories, memorabilia and good old-fashioned wrestling fun hosted by Gene’s sons Nick and Kelly alongside Tsawwassen’s James Cybulski from Sportsnet 650 radio.

Also on hand will be Seattle author Steven Verrier, who recently released a biography on the wrestling legend. He will speak about the book and sign copies.

Nick Kiniski said there will also be private family memorabilia on display that has never before been seen by the public.

“I’m really looking forward to the event,” said Nick. “There is free admission and everyone is welcome. It’s a kid-friendly event too and we will have some food and drink available as well. It’s just going to be a fun time to remember dad.”

Nick, who was interviewed for the book, said he often jokes that Verrier knew more about his dad than he did.

“There are some stories in there that I never knew,” said Nick.

Gene Kiniski: Canadian Wrestling Legend is an entertaining account of the life of a champion professional wrestler.

Old-time fans and wrestling historians remember Gene for his accomplishments in the ring, but few are aware of what a complex character he was or what a fascinating life he lived over the course of his 81 years.

This first biography draws from interviews with many people who knew Gene inside and outside the wrestling ring — from boyhood friends and acquaintances in 1930s and ’40s to fellow wrestlers and promoters who knew him professionally from the 1950s to early ’90s and on to people who became his friends during his retirement in Blaine, Wash.

Kiniski's Reef Tavern is located at 1334 Gulf Rd.
