Photos: Orcas spotted off North Shore coastline

A pod identified as T90 exited the inner harbour of Burrard Inlet on Friday morning

If you had eyes on Burrard Inlet on Friday, you might have been lucky enough to spot a pod of killer whales swimming near the surface.

At around 9:30 a.m., North Vancouver wildlife photographer Perry Edwards trained his camera lens on the pod, identified as the T90 pod, as they exited the inner harbour.

Edwards photographed both male and female West Coast transient (Bigg's) killer whales, as they moved westbound, passing in front of Lions Gate Wastewater Treatment Plant in West Vancouver. Details in the images show scarring on the area known as the saddle patch, a lighter-coloured section behind the dorsal fin on the whales’ back.
