The Weather Network and Environment Canada call for below-average temperatures for the winter in Vancouver, B.C. in December 2022.

Locals can enjoy a sunny reprieve this week following some wet weather in the Lower Mainland.

Environment Canada calls for a long stretch of bright sunshine and brisk temperatures in Metro Vancouver following a couple of rainy days over the weekend.

On Monday, Dec. 12, the forecast includes sunshine and a high of 5 C dropping to -2 C overnight, followed by a mainly cloudy day on Tuesday with a high of 3 C and an overnight low of -1 C.

Heading into Wednesday, Vancouverites can expect a few days of bright sunshine with highs ranging between 3 C and 4 C and dropping between -1 C and -3 C overnight.

While Saturday is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud, Sunday's forecast includes a 60 per cent chance of flurries.

The Weather Network and Environment Canada call for below-average temperatures to kick off the winter season in Metro Vancouver following the snowiest November in over a decade.

Prior to the start of meteorological winter, there were a variety of temperatures throughout the fall, and taking an average temperature for the 90 days doesn't tell the complete story.

Instead, a closer look at the fall season in Vancouver shows that it was "volatile" and a "season of extremes," according to a new report.
