A celebration of international cultures with a fundraising twist is on tap thanks to the work of an international student at South Delta Secondary.

Grade 12 student Petra Frisch is hosting a formal night and fashion show entitled A celebration of international cultures on Tuesday, April 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the SDSS cafeteria. The fundraising event will support her Grade 12 capstone project for graduation requirements.

There will be live music, a three-course dinner showcasing cuisines from various nationalities, a captivating fashion show and a delightful array of mocktails.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the SDSS office.

“My helpful teachers, my mentor, and me have put a lot of effort into creating an immersive and entertaining experience for our guests,” she said. “I am excited to share that a portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Deaf Children’s Society of BC. Supporting this worthy cause adds an extra layer of significance to our event, and I am so proud to contribute to such a meaningful organization.”

She said the evening is centred on coming together to appreciate the richness of different traditions, languages, and foods, embracing the beauty of our global community.

“Donating to the Society of Deaf People during this event holds profound significance to me,” she said. “It’s about recognizing the importance of inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and be celebrated regardless of their hearing abilities.”
