The Sidekick Players opened a three-week run of Les Belles Soeurs at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre last night.

 

Directed for Sidekick by Carroll Lefebvre, the Michel Tremblaywritten play features a cast of 15 women, who bring to life the language and living style of French Canadian, working class women in the 1960s.

 

Les Belles Soeurs runs to Feb. 6 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings only) at 8 p.m. There are matinees on Sundays, Jan. 24 and 31, at 2 p.m. Calling 604-288-2415 for reservations.

 

 

The Wander Inn Café

 

The Wander Inn Café will include performances by recording artists Stephanie Standerwick and Christine Magee tomorrow night at Ladner Christian Fellowship, 5545 Ladner Trunk Rd.

 

The evening is set to run from 7 to 10 p.m. Cover charge is suggested at $5 and includes beverages and goodies.

 

 

Literacy Week

 

Delta's police and fire chiefs will be making appearances at local libraries next week as part of Family Literacy Week. Running Jan. 26-29, Delta's three libraries will be hosting special storytimes featuring police Chief Neil Dubord and fire Chief Dan Copeland, as well as other police and fire members.

 

The free storytimes are set for: Wednesday, Jan. 27 at the Ladner Pioneer Library and Friday, Jan. 29 at the Tsawwassen Library. Storytime runs from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Family Literacy Day (Jan. 27) cumulates with Screens Off Delta's challenge to unplug and plug in to literacy for one hour.
