For many of us, Halloween is a time to get dressed up in a great costume, let loose and have fun, but it is easy to forget this time of year can be challenging for individuals with different physical, developmental, medical, emotional and mental abilities.
Several factors, such as a heightened sensitivity to themes circulating around Halloween, dietary restrictions around treats and snacks, mobility challenges in visiting homes in the community or sensory issues involving light, touch and noise can get in the way of traditional house-tohouse trick or treating. To accommodate these needs and welcome everyone to participate in Halloween celebrations, Ladner Baptist Church is hosting its annual Connect Halloween Carnival for families of individuals of all ages with mental, physical, medical, developmental and emotional abilities.
Accessible carnival games, activity stations and a whole bunch of prizes are ready and waiting to be won. Participating in an event like this is a great way for the whole family, tot to grandparent, to enjoy Halloween in a safe, inclusive and fun environment.
Costumes are welcome, but no scary ones please.
The carnival is set for Monday, Oct. 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Ladner Baptist Church is located at 5624
Ladner Trunk Rd.
The event is wheelchair accessible and admission is free.
